Equistone portfolio company BOAL Group acquires greenhouse technology specialist Alumat Zeeman
BOAL Group (“BOAL”), a leading provider of aluminium roofing and sidewall systems for industrial greenhouses, is acquiring Alumat Zeeman, a specialist in the design and production of greenhouse components and complete systems, in partnership with Equistone Partners Europe (“Equistone”). The acquisition of Alumat Zeeman, a family-owned business located in the Netherlands, will enable BOAL to strengthen its market position and expand its product offering to an increasingly global customer base.
BOAL Group, headquartered in Naaldwijk in the Netherlands, has 50 years of experience and a leading position in the design and manufacturing of aluminium roofing and sidewall systems for industrial greenhouses. With aluminium extrusion capabilities in the Netherlands and the UK, BOAL specialises in engineering, designing and constructing systems for horticulture. BOAL is expanding its product portfolio to offer better integrated solutions to its customers, who design and build complete greenhouse systems for the international horticultural greenhouse market.
Funds advised by Equistone, a pan-European private equity investment firm, acquired a majority stake in BOAL from CEO Ronald Boers and founder Marinus Boers in 2018. Over the past two years, Equistone has supported the expansion of the BOAL Group via the acquisitions of the Holland Group Westland and Westnederland Sandwich Panels. The acquisition of Alumat Zeeman represents the latest step in Equistone’s and BOAL‘s joint strategy of further developing the company’s market-leading position in the horticultural greenhouse industry.
Alumat Zeeman, located in Maasdijk in the Netherlands, supplies greenhouse components, parts for ventilation mechanisms and screening installations, or complete systems, to agricultural and horticultural markets worldwide. Alumat Zeeman has a strong track record of developing and optimising innovative technology solutions that control greenhouse climate and energy consumption and protect outdoor crops. The company's acquisition will enable the BOAL group to enhance its current technological offering and add a number of exciting new products to its existing range.
